Senior Scientist Vaccine Generation
Department / project:
The Vaccine Generation group is a part of the Viral Vaccine department of Janssen Vaccines & Prevention (JVP) and focuses on the research and development of vaccines against viral infectious diseases. The group is responsible for the design, generation, production and characterization of recombinant viral vectors, for applied research in the vaccine field. Interaction with R&D groups in the organization is an important aspect of our work. You will join a stimulating group of researchers in a very collaborative environment. We are looking for a senior scientist to strengthen our team in developing innovative vaccine candidates aimed to prevent and treat life-threatening diseases
As an experienced senior scientist, you will join a diverse team working on programs to develop (adeno) viral vector based vaccines, expanding our knowledge on our vaccine platforms and develop innovative vaccine processes and technologies. The qualified candidate is a highly motivated, interactive, and creative individual. Key responsibilities include the molecular characterization viral vectored vaccines, bioprocess technology, execution of scientific plans, interpretation and reporting of experimental results, and providing support to several projects. This position requires extensive expertise in molecular biology and experience/affinity with bioprocess technology. You need to have more than 3 years of experience with managing a team of technicians and/or scientists. Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills are essential and the capability to effectively work in a team environment is required.
Expected activities include but are not limited to:
- Molecular characterization of viral vectored vaccines
- Bioprocess technology, production and/or purification- technology
- Sequence analysis (including NGS), using CLC software tools
- Manage, motivate and develop a team of technicians/scientists
- Ensures continuous improvement in the development of new technologies, processes, products and/or scientific procedures
- Provide support to multiple projects
- Work across organizational boundaries
- Keep up-to-date with literature in the field of vectored vaccines and molecular technology
Education: you have a Ph.D. or Ph.D./M.D. degree with solid molecular biology technical skills, > 3 years of productive research experience at the senior scientist level in an academic, pharmaceutical or biotechnology drug/vaccine discovery environment and experience with managing a team.
Experience with adenoviral vectors is a plus.
