VitroScan is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. The Leiden-based company has spent the past decade developing ex vivo micro-tumour testing, with the aim of supporting better-informed treatment decisions for cancer patients.
Founded in 2016, VitroScan has grown its technology and network of collaborators over the past decade, working with clinicians, researchers and other partners to explore how tumour samples can be used to better understand how individual patients may respond to treatment.
The anniversary also attracted attention from the Dutch national broadcaster NOS, which visited VitroScan to learn more about the company and the challenges faced by biotech companies as they work to bring promising technologies from research towards clinical application.
From Leiden to clinical application
VitroScan is part of the life sciences and health ecosystem in Leiden, where companies, researchers and healthcare organisations work across the development chain from research and diagnostics to clinical care.
Its work with ex vivo micro-tumours reflects this connection between research and patient care. By testing treatments on tumour material outside the patient, the technology aims to provide additional information that could ultimately help clinicians make more informed treatment decisions.
After 10 years, VitroScan continues to develop its technology and work with partners to explore its potential in cancer care.
Congratulations to the VitroScan team on 10 years, and we look forward to seeing what the next decade brings.
