Leiden Science Run 2025

On Saturday 21 June 2025, the Leiden Science Run returns for a special edition in honour of Leiden University’s 450th anniversary. This energetic team relay brings students, researchers, alumni and professionals together for a good cause — and takes place right in the heart of the Leiden Bio Science Park.

A team relay for all levels

Each team consists of four runners, each covering 4.5 km. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just in it for fun and connection, the event welcomes everyone. It’s sporty, social, and meaningful — with all proceeds going to the LUF Children’s Fund, supporting vulnerable children facing illness, unsafe home situations, or mental health challenges.

Run through the innovation district

The route leads runners through the pathways and green spaces of the Leiden Bio Science Park, finishing at the vibrant Rosalind Franklinplein. Along the way, you’ll pass research institutes, start-ups, biotech companies and university buildings — a unique chance to experience the park in a new light.

Celebrate and support

While celebrating centuries of academic impact, the Science Run also looks ahead — supporting the next generation through the LUF Children’s Fund. By joining, you’re not just participating in an event, you’re helping build a brighter future.

• Form a team of 4 runners

• Register your team via the LUF Children’s Fund website (€25 per team)

• Upload a cheerful team photo

• Share your donation page and raise funds
