Account Manager / Business Developer

As Account Manager / Business Developer you have a diverse role and you are the connecting link between all parties at the Leiden Bio Science Park (LBSP). Within this dynamic ecosystem, consisting of companies, educational institutions and the government, you play a crucial role in stimulating and expanding collaborations and new innovations. You bring the strength of Leiden Bio Science Park to the attention of external parties and know how to attract new companies to locate here (local, regional, national and international).

Relationship management and networking are essential in this role, as is knowledge of and experience with Bio Science and Life Science & Health. You will analyze the bioscience market and identify opportunities which you then convert into concrete actions for the Leiden Bio Science Park. Within our small, dedicated and enthusiastic team you will work closely together under the leadership of the Director, where flexibility and creativity are of great importance.

Responsibilities

External:

  • Build and maintain good relationships with existing stakeholders (inside and outside Leiden);
  • Draw up and implement acquisition and business development strategy, in collaboration with Innovation Quarter;
  • Attracting new companies to locate at Leiden Bio Science Park;
  • You establish contact with SMEs through a structured approach and are able to engage in discussions on a substantive level, make connections and stimulate and facilitate cooperation;
  • Perform market analyses and actions based on them;
  • Planning and executing actions to increase awareness of the Leiden Bio Science Park;
  • Initiating and setting up collaborations.

Internal:

  • Working with the team to create conditions for a positive image of the Leiden Bio Science Park, including programming content and contributing to events and moderating these events where necessary;
  • Thinking along with the start-up program Unlock_ and PLNT and helping set up a consortium of service providers and partners and strengthening the relationship with investors;
  • Preparing various reports for purposes such as grant reporting and grant applications with thorough understanding of finances and budgeting.

Profile

Background, knowledge and experience.

  • BSc, MSc in Life Science, e.g. Biomedical Sciences, Medical Technology, LST, Pharmacy, or similar field;
  • Experience and existing network in the Life Sciences & Health sector (inter)national and/or Leiden Bio Science Park;
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of working experience in account management / acquisition / Business development;
  • Experience with complex stakeholder management;
  • Experience with complex grant processes and associated financial accountability is a plus;
  • Experience or affinity with positioning, marketing, communications and events is a plus.

  • Depending on work experience, salary indication: €3561,- and maximum €5872,- gross per month based on an ft-workweek (40h);
  • Working hours: 32-36 hrs/week;
  • Sporadic (inter)national travel to relevant conferences may be required;
  • 8.33% vacation pay;
  • Travel reimbursement;
  • Location: Leiden, possibility of hybrid working;
  • Laptop is available.
