The Faculty of Science and the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS) are looking for:
Assistant Professor in Machine Learning for Quantum Systems (0.8-1.0 fte)
The applied quantum algorithms (aQa) group at Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS) is seeking candidates for an Assistant Professor (0.8-1.0 FTE) position, working on the application of machine learning to quantum physics. Applications can be, but are not limited to, the use of classification methods to interpretably identify phases of matter, the optimization of and the search for experimental protocols, and control of ultracold atoms.
The ideal candidate will have a track record in research that generally connects concepts from machine learning to quantum physics, and who is also interested in improving machine learning methods for the application to exact scienes. The candidate is expected to work well in our culture of cross-group collaboration. The position will have a good balance between teaching and research, giving the candidate time to write research proposals and further build their research lines and career. The level of the position will be commensurate with the candidate's level of experience.
