Lab Assistant (temporary) at ProQR Therapeutics

Our Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) Department is currently looking for a Lab Assistant (32-40 hours/week) to join our team. This will be a temporary position of six months. The CMC department has a central role within the ProQR Therapeutics organization. The CMC Department develops, manufactures and characterizes oligonucleotides and therapeutic formulations for research, clinical development and commercialization.
The Lab Assistant will support the in house CMC lab activities of the Pharmaceutics and Analytics teams, which are part of the CMC department.
The Pharmaceutics team is responsible for formulation development and (IND enabling) studies related to dosing accuracy and compatibility that support our clinical studies, and technical support of early and late phase drug product manufacturing. The analytics team is responsible for the quality control of drug substances and drug products.
You will be responsible for general lab support in terms of maintaining lab inventory, maintenance of equipment, ordering and shipments. Also, you will support both teams in routine lab work including buffer and stock preparation, and sample testing such as pH, osmolality, water, appearance, UV, density and DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering).
The role is especially suitable for someone who is interested in starting to gain experience and knowledge in CMC in a clinical stage biotech company. You will learn which type of pharmaceutics experiments are required for IND submission and clinical studies, and how such experiments are executed in a multidisciplinary (CMC) team. Additionally you will experience working in a QC lab and gain experience with standard QC analysis and QC workflows.

We expect our Lab Assistant to have:
- a Master’s degree preferably in the area of life sciences or pharmaceutical science or
- a Bachelor’s degree preferably in the area of life sciences or Applied Science (BACs)
- affinity with working in a lab
- the ability to work independently
- excellent communication skills
- excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
