Supervisor Finance at ProQR Therapeutics

Our Finance department is currently looking for a talented and highly motivated Supervisor Finance (full-time) to strengthen our team. You will report to the Associate Director Accounting & Operations.

Location: Leiden, NL 

We expect our Supervisor Finance to perform the following activities:

  • Reviewing of work prepared by the finance and accounting team, and supervising finance processes
    • Improve team performance by coaching and counseling employees; planning, monitoring; implementing standardized policies and procedures
  • Accounts payable
    • Implement and supervise automated invoice scanning and approval process
    • Ensure correct classification and cut-off of expenses
    • Review vendor master data changes
    • Maintain cost center and profit center databases
    • Perform Accounts Payable analysis
  • Payroll 
    • Responsible for processing monthly payroll for all employees (Netherlands, US, UK and Germany), including pensions
    • Ensure all payroll transactions (including options) are processed accurately and timely
    • Reconcile and validate payroll transactions prior to transmission
    • Understand proper taxation of salaries, benefits and other factors
    • Coordinate time-writing process and analyze time-writing reports
    • Review wage tax return
    • Review monthly variance analyses
  • Accounts receivable
    • Ensure correct and timely invoicing of business partners
    • Monitor timely receipt of payments due
  • Closing
    • Review specifications prepared by the accounting team, including accrued expenses, prepayments and other receivables, PP&E and grants
    • Prepare payroll accruals specifications and assist in preparation of trial balance
    • Execute and document evidence of the periodic (Sox) controls during closing periods
    • Monitor transactional finance KPI’s and prepare quarterly reporting
  • Other 
    • Assist with the maintenance of accounting systems and processes. Contribute ideas and innovations to improve existing systems, processes and procedures affecting month-end financial close and financial reporting
    • Participate in other projects as required
    • Assist in providing documentation for external audit

Competencies that are required for making the difference:

  • Dedicated finance professional with at least 4 years of experience (e.g. in a similar role or at one of the Big 4 Accounting firms)
  • Affinity with process automation (e.g. invoice scanning)
  • Knowledge of payroll processing, employee benefits and taxation 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Reviewing and supervising the work of the finance and accounting team
  • Influencing, leading, and delegating abilities
  • Critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Planning and organizing – organizational abilities
