Esther Peters is the new director of the Leiden Bio Science Park Foundation (LBSP)


Leiden – As of October 1, Esther Peters is the new director of the Leiden Bio Science Park Foundation (LBSP). She succeeds Ida Haisma, who has led the Foundation since September 2019. Ida Haisma has built a Life Sciences & Health ecosystem at the Leiden Bio Science Park where communities, collaboration and innovation & valorization are key.

The LBSP is the growth engine of the Leiden region, a pearl of the Dutch knowledge economy and a global hotspot for Life Sciences & Health. Within the Leiden Bio Science Park Foundation, the Leiden University, Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), the Entrepreneurs Association Bio Science Park (OVBSP), Janssen Biologics and the Municipalities of Leiden and Oegstgeest work together to ensure the continued growth of the LBSP.

Esther Peters has earned her marks in building innovation ecosystems and collaborations in the triple helix where business, knowledge institutions and governments work together on innovations. After studying law at the Utrecht University, Peters worked in various (leadership) roles at companies including Loeff Claeys Verbeke, VNU Business Publications, Achmea, Erasmus University and the Municipalities of Leiden and Oegstgeest. In her most recent position, Peters was director of the NL Space Campus in Noordwijk, which under her leadership has grown into one of the leading European Space Hubs with a vibrant, internationally oriented and open innovation system. Peters is a Board member of the Stichting Jeugd en Samenleving Rijnland (JES) as well as of the healthcare organization ActiVite.

Esther Peters challenge will be to the LBSP to the next level of professionalization and internationalization. The global hotspot for Life Sciences & Health and world-class innovation district working at improvement of the health of the Dutch and people worldwide.
