Willem Velema – Targeting bacterial RNA
Willem Velema is an Assistant Professor of Physical Organic Chemistry at Radboud University. Trained with Nobel laureate Ben Feringa and later with Eric Kool, he develops chemical tools to study nucleic acids, with a focus on RNA structure and function. His group designs molecular probes to reveal how RNA works inside cells, and lately he has been delving into probing RNA inhibition as a route toward developing novel antibacterials.
