Orange the World – Stop Violence against Women

LEIDEN joins the UN Global Campaign from 25 November until 10 December.

In over 100 countries worldwide, people are taking action to end violence against women. In the Netherlands more than 230 Dutch municipalities have joined. Buildings are bathed in orange light, flags are raised and people support awareness initiatives or start their own. Violence against women and girls must end.

This year’s theme is ‘Safety, everywhere and always.’ The campaign is all about raising awareness that violence against women and girls can happen anywhere – at work, in sports clubs, while going out, at festivals, in schools, student associations, and at home. Each one of us can contribute to preventing or stopping such violence.

Become a supporter in the fight against violence. Anyone can make a difference, especially men and boys. Let’s break the silence about violence by talking about it, or as an active bystander, to ensure women and girls can feel safe!
