PEPtalk | “Fasten your seatbelts!” Flying proteins to better understand disease processes

The language of this event is Dutch

Proteins determine the processes and structure of a cell. Our DNA largely contains the information about what proteins look like. However, there are also important modifications to proteins that cannot be read directly from DNA.

In many disease processes, disturbances in proteins play a crucial role. At LUMC, we have a research facility, the Center for Proteomics and Metabolomics (CPM), that studies this using a technique in which proteins are made to “fly.”

Paul Hensbergen from the CPM will take us along on this flight and, through examples, show how flight information is used to better understand disease processes.
