Would you like to participate in Fireflies (Vuurvliegen) as a researcher?
If you can explain your research to a nine-year-old, you can explain it to anyone! Vuurvliegen offers you the opportunity to present your scientific research in an engaging and accessible way to a young audience. During an exciting afternoon, you will stand on stage with three or four other researchers in front of a large group of seventh-grade primary school children. You will take them on a journey into the world of chemistry, life sciences, and technology—making science magical.
Why participate?
What does the process look like?
After signing up, we will review your motivation and research. If selected, you will complete a short homework assignment and participate in a practice day where you will learn how to tailor your story to children’s perspectives. You’ll receive feedback on your pitch and improve your presentation skills. Since you will be presenting your research to primary school children, the event will be held in Dutch.
On the big day, you will present your research to the children, and their votes will determine the winner! The recorded pitches will be published afterward for use in Science & Technology lessons at primary schools. For more information, visit https://www.c3.nl/vuurvliegen/informatie-voor-onderzoekers/.
