LeydenJar Wins the Peter Wennink Tech Award 2026

The Dutch technology industry is once again demonstrating the power of innovation: developing solutions that contribute to the future of Europe and the world.

With its groundbreaking battery technology, LeydenJar has won the Peter Wennink Tech Award 2026. Through the development of silicon anodes, the company is taking an important step toward more powerful, sustainable, and faster-charging batteries, with significant potential for applications such as electric mobility and energy storage.

This innovation highlights one of our industry’s greatest strengths: turning pioneering ideas into solutions with societal and economic impact. At the same time, LeydenJar’s story shows how important scaling up is. The transition from innovation to production is what ultimately determines whether a technology can truly make a difference.

By building its first commercial factory in Brainport Eindhoven, LeydenJar is taking the next step toward widespread adoption and international impact. This development not only strengthens the Netherlands’ capacity for innovation but also contributes to its strategic position within Europe.

As jury chairman Peter Wennink aptly stated:

“Innovation is about the journey from idea to application and ultimately to impact. Innovations of this kind make a difference and strengthen the earning capacity and technological position of the Netherlands and Europe.”

Special recognition also goes to the other nominees, AQUABATTERY and PAL-V—all outstanding examples of the innovation, ambition, and entrepreneurship within our technology industry.

Congratulations to the entire team at LeydenJar! 🎉
