China embraces CORPUS 'journey through the human body' as a symbol for public health
With full political support from the Chinese government, the CORPUS family will expand over the next two years in a new developmental area at some 45 kilometers south of Nanjing, the former capital of China.
On 31 October 2018, Henri Remmers, founder of CORPUS, signed a license agreement with Ma'anshan Zhengpu Port New District Construction Investment Co., Ltd. and CHIC Group for the construction of CORPUS at Nanjing. The development at Zhengpu Port New District in Ma'anshan is an area of 180 km², of which in the first phase an area of 30 km² is being developed. The start of the construction of CORPUS is scheduled for spring 2019, opening for the first half of 2020.
The political five-year plan in China holds an important role for initiatives to promote public health. The importance of Lots of exercise, Responsible nutrition and Healthy living is therefore fully embraced by party secretary Yuefeng Zhang who has confirmed the agreement. In addition to administrative support, this confirms the philosophy underlying CORPUS that is expressed by founder Henri Remmers as: "A healthy life is essential for everyone, knowledge plays a key role. It is our vision that visitors of CORPUS ‘journey through the human body’ will go home with a different view of their bodies".
The creation of CORPUS in China is based on a few years of preparation. During one of the trade missions to China led by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, the first concrete steps were taken to finally arrive at the current first agreement for Nanjing.
