David’s Gelato creates ice creams that relieve dry mouth in collaboration with LUMC

David’s Gelato, in partnership with LUMC, has introduced an ice cream that helps alleviate dry mouth symptoms. Infused with Sichuan Button® flower extract, it stimulates saliva production naturally. The ice cream is crafted from fresh fruit without artificial additives, providing a tasty and healthful solution for those affected by dry mouth.

David’s Gelato, in collaboration with nutritionist Rick Stil from the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC), has developed a unique ice cream designed to alleviate dry mouth, a common issue among patients undergoing treatments like chemotherapy, radiation, or those on certain medications. The ice cream contains a natural extract from the Sichuan Button® flower, which gently stimulates the salivary glands to produce more saliva, providing immediate relief. Made with fresh fruit and free from artificial colors or flavors, the ice cream offers a pleasant and healthy alternative to traditional remedies. It is available in three flavors: frambana (raspberry-banana), mango, and tropical, and can be purchased at David’s Gelato in Gouda and the LUMC restaurant.
