Is repeatedly complimenting a colleague’s outfit appropriate, or could it cross a line? This thought-provoking question set the tone for the first-ever meeting of the Works Council Community at Leiden Bio Science Park, opening up conversations around workplace behaviour, boundaries, and culture.
Bringing together HR professionals, legal experts, and company representatives, the session explored how different organisations define misconduct, handle grey areas, and strive to foster respectful, inclusive environments. The discussion made clear that while not all situations are black and white, open dialogue is key to building trust and setting shared standards.
The initiative was led by Natalia Vtyurina and Annemarth Hiebendaal, whose efforts mark the start of a much-needed community dedicated to these important themes. It’s a promising beginning to ongoing conversations that will help shape the future of workplace well-being across the Park.
A big thank-you to all who participated and contributed their perspectives.
