LUdev is a student-run software company part of the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS) of Leiden University. The initiative gives bachelor’s students the opportunity to work on real-world software development projects for external partners, helping them apply the technical and theoretical knowledge they gain in their studies to professional practice.
We collaborate with organizations ranging from startups to research institutes and SMEs on a yearly basis. Once agreement on a project topic is reached, it is offered to enthusiastic student teams as part of their Software Engineering course. These teams consist of third-year bachelor’s students in the Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Science & Economics, and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence programmes and tracks. Under the supervision of the LUdev board and experienced course staff, students engage in the complete software development workflow, including project planning, requirements analysis, Agile teamwork, client communication, and programming.
Call for Projects
LUdev is actively seeking project partners for the upcoming edition of the Software Engineering course, starting this spring. Organizations interested in collaborating with students and sharing their expertise are invited to propose software development projects. Possible project types include web applications, educational tools, data visualization platforms, or other software solutions tailored to specific needs.
