Starting Friday, November 14 at 4:00 p.m., two temporary closures (in place for the duration of the Plesmanlaan project, until approximately Q3 2027) will be implemented for motorized traffic on the northern edge of the LBSP. As a result, the LBSP will no longer be accessible from the Wassenaarseweg. Traffic from Leiderdorp and Oegstgeest will need to take a detour via the Schipholweg or the Plesmanlaan.
There will be two road closures for cars in the Bio Science Park: one on Sylviusweg near Wassenaarseweg, and one at the Albinusdreef roundabout near the LUMC parking garage. As a result, through traffic between Zernikedreef/Sandifortdreef and Wassenaarseweg will no longer be possible.
The Municipality of Leiden is implementing these changes to improve accessibility and enhance the safety of cyclists and pedestrians.
For the safety and better flow of bicycle traffic, an additional temporary (until mid-2027) bicycle crossing will be created on the north side of the Posthof roundabout (on the Rijnsburgerweg–Kagerstraat side). In addition, the bicycle path on the east side of the roundabout (on the side with odd house numbers) will become one-way only, in order to better distribute bicycle traffic across the roundabout’s branches.
