Official opening new outdoor sports facilities at Leiden University Sports Centre

The new outdoor sports facilities of the University Sports Centre Leiden have officially opened at Piet Paaltjenspad, adding more opportunities for sports and exercise at Leiden Bio Science Park. The facilities currently offer tennis, hockey, lacrosse, padel, football and rugby. Work is still ongoing, with a calisthenics area, beach volleyball courts and additional green spaces planned for the coming period.

A festive opening
The opening was celebrated with several sports clubs in attendance. Those who attended the opening had the opportunity to try out different outdoor sports and discover the new facilities. It was a festive occasion and a great way to introduce the new sports fields to the community.

Sports facilities for the whole park
The facilities are open to students and local residents, and also offer a place for employees of companies and organisations at Leiden Bio Science Park to exercise close to work.

With the University Sports Centre having opened in April, there are now even more opportunities to stay active in the middle of the park. As the area continues to grow, with new homes and workplaces being developed, these facilities are a welcome addition for people who live, work or study here.

A healthy place to work and live
Health is central to Leiden Bio Science Park, both through the research and innovation taking place here and through the environment in which people work and live. Having sports facilities right on the Park fits well with this focus and makes it easier for the community to include exercise in their daily lives.
