Center for Cell and Gene Therapy
This center provides infrastructure and expertise for translational and clinical cell and gene therapy research, including GMP-compliant manufacturing and cleanroom space. It supports scalable production and regulatory-aligned processes for Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products (ATMPs).
Peptide Facility
The Peptide Facility specializes in the chemical synthesis of high-quality peptides ranging from 5 to 100 amino acids in small and large quantities. We produce and purify custom designed peptide sequences, peptide libraries, HLA tetramers, peptide-based reagents and related biochemicals, and monitor quality using advanced analytical equipment for a full characterization.
Protein Facility
The Protein Facility provides infrastructure for protein expression, purification and comprehensive biophysical characterization, enabling studies from gene to structure. It supports both academic and industry projects requiring bespoke protein production and analysis workflows.
Viral Vector Facility
The Viral Vector Facility (VVF) produces research-grade viral vectors. Lentiviruses are produced using 3rd generation packaging plasmids, can be concentrated by ultracentrifugation and are titrated by p24 ELISA. Adenoviruses are grown on 911 helper cell lines, can be purified by CsCl density gradients and are titrated by plaque assay. The VVF has a collection of arrayed shRNA and CRISPR libraries.
Facilities at LUMC
Leiden University Medical Center runs more than a dozen research facilities on the park, from ultra-high field MRI and electron microscopy to preclinical imaging, flow cytometry, and cell and gene therapy.
These facilities are open to partner institutes and third parties, not only to LUMC researchers. And access comes with the people who run them: support with sample preparation, study design, imaging protocols, and data interpretation.
