Shanghai Delegation Visits Leiden Bio Science Park to Explore Collaboration Opportunities

In a significant step toward strengthening international ties in the life sciences and health sectors, Leiden Bio Science Park (LBSP) welcomed a high-level delegation from Shanghai, including the Vice Mayor Liu Duo of the Shanghai Municipal Government.

What made this visit remarkable was that it was initiated by the Shanghai delegation themselves, highlighting their keen interest in establishing meaningful connections and exploring collaboration opportunities with Dutch partners.

The Shanghai delegation included senior representatives from various sectors, including science, technology, culture, and tourism. Their visit to LBSP followed an earlier stop at BTF, where they were warmly welcomed by Ronald Kompier, whose involvement helped pave the way for continued dialogue.

During the LBSP visit, organisations including HALIX, TNO, Toxys, and 1NA presented their work in biomedicine and biotechnology. A special thanks goes to HALIX for providing a tour of their facilities. The group heard directly from Dennis Verbart, who shared the company’s innovations and vision for global partnerships.

This high-level exchange highlighted the potential for mutual growth and knowledge sharing. The atmosphere was one of genuine curiosity and ambition, laying a strong foundation for future cooperation between Shanghai and the Netherlands in the life sciences domain. We look forward to building on this momentum and turning today’s conversations into tomorrow’s innovations.
