The Proefdiervrij Venture Challenge 2026
A major highlight of the event is the award ceremony of the sixth edition of the Proefdiervrij Venture Challenge.
Over the past three months, five promising teams have been developing the business skills needed to successfully bring their animal-free innovations to market. One team will take home a cash prize to help turn its plans into reality.
In addition to the main jury award, there will also be a People’s Choice Award for the first time. All attendees will be invited to vote.
The teams of 2026:
Daranamix: Developer of the Multi-Heart Plate (MHP), a human-focused alternative to animal models for cardiovascular disease and drug research.
ViroGenesis: Produces high-quality, clinical -grade respiratory viruses using fully animal-free human lung organoid technology.
LubaLabs: Develops technology that makes it possible to monitor tissue mechanics in organoids over time.
PArtCell Solutions: Creates artificial cells in the lab, without animal-derived components, to model diseases such as Huntington’s disease.
NuClear: Developing a sensitive, scalable and human-relevant test to accelerate cystic fibrosis drug discovery without the use of laboratory animals.
