How do you remove bone cancer located right next to a joint without having to replace the entire joint in a young patient? Using patient-specific 3D-printed cutting guides and intraoperative CT navigation, surgeons can remove tumors with extreme precision while preserving as much healthy bone and joint tissue as possible.
In this PEP-talk, Demiën Broekhuis, orthopedic surgeon at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), takes you into the operating room. Using impressive 3D images and real-life examples, he will show how modern technology is making complex bone cancer surgery increasingly precise and patient-friendly. This is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse into the highly specialized surgical work carried out at LUMC!
