Last night, Leiden Bio Science Park looked a little different. With colored lights in hand, we set out to illuminate the park—bringing visibility to the 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease. How are you lighting up for rare?
Raising awareness isn’t just about making something seen—it’s about making it understood. Rare diseases impact millions, yet for many, the journey is filled with uncertainty, delayed diagnoses, and limited treatment options. By shining a light—both literally and figuratively—we aim to keep rare diseases on the agenda, where they belong.

VICO & BioPartner are teaming up again this year to help raise awareness for Rare Disease Day. This day is all about generating change for the 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease, their families and carers. This year, Rare Disease Day is on the 28th of February.
