Festival – ongoing

During the Open Day, from 10:00 – 15:00, several companies will showcase their innovations in an accessible way. Visit the different booths at your own pace to catch all the presentations. Children can also do experiments and crafts. And everyone can try Dragon’s Breath!

Quantum sounds tricky… but what if you could explore it through play? Visit our stand and step into the weird and wonderful world of the tiniest particles! What do you think, can a particle be in two places at once?

Growing mini-organs to test medicine? Sounds like science fiction, right? StemX does this for real! Stop by, play the game, and see how we’re shaping the future of medicine, with fewer lab animals.

Ever wondered what really goes on in a lab? Grab the joystick, check the screen, and take a digital walk through the lab, no lab coat or safety goggles needed!

Can you imagine that we once had no clue about the microscopic world around us? Antoni van Leeuwenhoek was the first to see these “Kleijne diertgens” in 1674, come see what you can see with a replica of his very first microscope! With our contemporary digital microscopes, count insect hairs, see live how sweat is produced and evaporates on your skin, and inspect porcupine quills.

Wondering what your genes can tell you about your health and lifestyle? Visit LifeCode Solutions during the open day at Leiden Bio Science Park! We explain in an accessible and interactive way how your DNA can provide insights into what works for you in terms of nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress. No medical diagnoses, but practical tools for a healthier lifestyle – fully customised. During the open day, you can find out what a DNA analysis entails, see sample reports, ask our specialists all your questions, order a DNA report directly if you wish (the analysis will follow after the open day). Do you want to know how science can support your health? Come along and get inspired!
