On 6 October, the Bridging Biomedical Frontiers – LUMC International Lecture Series, an initiative of LUMC Global – China Hub, continues with a lecture by Prof. Kai Ye, Professor and Director of the Bioinformatics Institute at Xi’an Jiaotong University in Xi’an, China.
In his lecture Seq2image: A Holistic Image-Based Paradigm for Genomic Sequence Analysis, Prof. Ye will introduce a new approach that transforms one-dimensional biological sequences into two-dimensional images, enabling deep-learning and advanced image-processing techniques to be applied to complex genomic data. He will discuss applications in structural variant detection, gene annotation, and the study of three-dimensional genome architecture.
Prof. Ye has longstanding ties with Leiden: he is an alumnus of Leiden University and previously worked at LUMC as an Assistant Professor.

Following the lecture, a Meet & Greet with light lunch will take place, primarily for members of the Chinese community at LUMC, Leiden University and the Leiden Bio Science Park. It offers an informal opportunity to meet Prof. Ye and connect with other members of the community.
