Leiden Micrograph Contest – Van Leeuwenhoek Awards

Some of the most striking images in science are sitting on a hard drive somewhere, unseen. If your research involves microscopy, the Van Leeuwenhoek Awards are your opportunity to bring that work out of the lab and in front of a wider audience.

Submit your image, and have a chance to win! Deadline May 22!

What can you expect?
Antonie van Leeuwenhoek ground his own lenses, pointed them at pond water, and saw a world no one knew existed. That instinct, to look closer, is exactly what the Van Leeuwenhoek Awards are built around.

This competition invites researchers, innovators and organizations connected to Leiden Bio Science Park to submit their best microscopy visual. From classical light and electron microscopy to advanced data-driven renderings, the awards aim to recognize work that combines scientific insight with visual impact.

Beyond celebrating excellence, the competition also aims to engage a broader audience by making science visible and accessible, demonstrating how research translates into images that inspire curiosity and understanding.
