During this session, we would like to zoom in with you on a common topic when working across borders: the expat ruling (also known as the 30% ruling). This scheme is a Dutch wage tax facility that makes working in the Netherlands more attractive for employees recruited from abroad. The 30% ruling can also be applied to employees posted from the Netherlands.
Questions discussed include: which conditions must be met? Which costs are expected to be covered through the 30% ruling? How does the (fast-track) application process work? How do you process the regulation correctly in the payroll administration? What is the relevance of the addendum?
In addition, we will discuss some other relevant topics concerning the 30% ruling, including the change of employer and the burden of proof concerning the employee’s place of residence prior to employment in the Netherlands. Furthermore, we also address the various measures that have been introduced over the past year and future measures, including the transitional arrangements.
Lastly, after attending this session, you will have gained more knowledge on the content and practicalities of the expat ruling.
