Please note: This event will be held in Dutch.
DNA is the ‘language’ of our bodies. Scientists are learning to understand this language better and better, and with new techniques such as CRISPR, they can sometimes even correct errors in DNA. What does this mean for medicine and for the way we view human beings?
During this public event, three experts will share their insights into the impact of DNA research on healthcare and society.
Speakers
- Hub Zwart (Philosophy, Erasmus University Rotterdam)
On how knowledge of the human genome has changed the way we see ourselves.
- Ype Elgersma (Molecular Neurobiology, Erasmus MC)
On genetic disorders and new possibilities for treating errors in DNA.
- Sam Riedijk (Medical Psychologist, Erasmus MC)
On the ethical questions surrounding CRISPR and the modification of embryonic DNA.
