Join the Pride Leiden celebrations from 28 August to 5 September.
Throughout the week, the programme will feature lectures, a poetry competition, music bingo, comedy shows and a variety of cultural activities. On Tuesday, 1 September, Leiden University Medical Center will host an event about sexual health and HIV. That same evening, the Queer Quill Poetry Competition will take place at Scheltema.
Art will also have a prominent place during Pride Week. On Thursday, 3 September, a queer exhibition will open at Scheltema, featuring work by photographer Marleen Berkhout, artist Nancy Glazer and Morgana Hoornweg, among others. The Wereldmuseum will also present an exhibition by Samoan artist Yuki Kihara.
The highlight: the Canal Pride
The highlight of the week is the Canal Pride: a colourful spectacle floating through Leiden’s historic city centre. Enjoy music from DJs, watch the decorated boats travel along the canals and join the celebrations at Lammermarkt afterwards.
