Vuurvliegen | Dutch Bio Science Week

The language of this event is in Dutch.

Can you explain your research to a room full of nine-year-olds? Prove it at the Vuurvliegen event! We’re still looking for researchers who love a challenge.

Vuurvliegen is a science battle in which primary school students act as the jury. During an afternoon full of excitement, five young researchers take the stage to present their research to an audience of 150 to 300 children from grades 5 to 8. The kids listen, judge, and ultimately decide who takes home the win.

What can you expect?

What makes Vuurvliegen unforgettable is the mix of excitement, interaction, and celebration. Researchers share their work in creative and engaging ways, while students have plenty of opportunities to ask questions, discuss ideas, and participate in hands-on activities. The students themselves act as jurors, voting with marbles to choose the best presentation, culminating in a lively award ceremony that celebrates the winning team.

Organized by C3, the event aims to provide top-quality guidance in study and career orientation. Vuurvliegen brings science to life in a fun, interactive way, giving students a unique opportunity to learn directly from researchers and explore their own interests and talents early on.
