Meet Pelle the Pelican

Meet our mascot, Pelle the Pelican!

Did you know that our logo, the pelican, refers to the legend of the Dalmatian pelican? She pecked open her own chest to feed her starving young with her own blood.

For centuries, the pelican has been a symbol of altruism and compassion. At Sanquin, it represents the selfless donations of our donor heroes.
